Punjammies and block printing

My love, good man that he is, still reads my blog, even though he gets to hear the waterfall of 30,000 words that comes out of my mouth every night when he gets home from work. And inevitably, I say everything to him that I write here.

So, he read my blog about trafficking and the Super Bowl and read that I wanted a pair of Punjammies (that might have been the one thing I didn’t say out loud to him).

So what did I get for my birthday?! A pair of Punjammies, with a matching top.

This pair to be exact: http://www.punjammies.com/products/siresha

You might be thinking that $35 seems like a lot for a pair of pajama pants…but, it supports former trafficked slaves and prostitutes, and each pair is block printed.  I didn’t know what that meant either, until I read this blog post and watched this youtube video.

Yes…they carve a block of wood and then hand-stamp the cloth.  Amazing, huh?

My Punjammies are currently sitting at my parent’s house, since they couldn’t be shipped here. And I’m counting down the days till I get to wear them.  My mom opened the box and appropriately oohed and aahed over them.

In the meantime, check out the International Princess Project.  Read their mission and check out their blog. Like their blog on Facebook and even follow them on Pinterest. 🙂
